The sun moves. So do you.
The house has several outdoor living spaces, each facing a different way and shaded differently, and you move from one to the next through the day. That is what makes it possible to live outdoors from morning to night, even in high summer.
The pool
A private infinity pool, thirteen metres by eight (43 × 26 ft), set facing the fields and the sunset. Nothing overlooks it. Sun loungers, day-beds and a shaded seating area, with oaks giving shade late in the day.
Maximum depth one metre fifty (5 ft): no deep end, no diving board. A pool where adults can stand anywhere and where you can keep an eye on children without effort. The pool has an alarm, and we provide safety wristbands for the youngest.
The pool is not heated. It opens according to the temperature, usually from mid-June to mid-September.
The courtyard, facing east
A stone table for twelve under a mulberry tree several centuries old, a bench along the wall, a fountain. Set against the hillside, the courtyard falls into shade from early afternoon: it is the coolest spot on the property, and where lunch happens.
The houseThe terrace, facing south
Under the pergola, a second long table looking out over the fields, a barbecue and a plancha. Beside it, an outdoor sitting area with armchairs and a low table. This is the evening side.
The deck
A wooden deck stands above the house and the pool, facing the horizon. Roll out a mat there at first light for yoga or pilates, and come back up in the evening, glass in hand, to watch the sun drop behind the hills.
The pétanque court
Because there has to be one. The boules are here.
The grounds
Oaks, olive trees, cypresses and rows of lavender, shaded parking for three to four cars, and cicadas for background noise. The nearest organic wine estates are a few minutes away.
Along the edge of the property run the remains of the old Canal du Verdon, whose course you can still follow on foot. Three walks start from here without taking the car; they are described on The region page.
